Army Hebrew Course
All Olim Chadashim with a low Hebrew level (determined by the IDF at your Tzav Rishon) are required to begin their army service with a three-month Army Hebrew Course at the Michvei Alon base. The course is designed to provide Olim Chadashim with the Hebrew skills needed to succeed during their military service.
The program includes one month of basic training.
- Soldiers drafting into combat units will complete a more advanced level of basic training with their unit after finishing the Hebrew course.
- Non-combat soldiers may be required to repeat basic training, depending on their assigned unit.
- Toward the end of the course, participants meet with a placement officer to determine their military assignment.
The course is offered three times a year:
- December
- March / April
- August
These courses precede the March, August, and November draft cycles.
Course Moledet
Course Moledet (“Heritage Course”) was established in 2013 and takes place several times each year at Michvei Alon.
What Does the Course Include?
During the course, soldiers participate in a variety of educational activities, including:
- Tours throughout Israel
- Visits to museums
- Visits to theatres
- Visits to government buildings
- Learning about Jewish heritage

Can I Skip Course Moledet and Join Course Nativ Instead?
Placement in Course Moledet is determined following your interview at the Lishkat Giyus. Candidates who are assigned to the course cannot receive an exemption. However, soldiers who wish to participate in Course Nativ may do so later during their military service.
